The IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) is a evaluation program developed by IATA for the specific needs of air operators that are not eligible for IATA’s Operational Safety Assessment (IOSA) program.

The ISSA program creates an opportunity for operators of aircraft below 5,700kg Maximum Take-off Weight (MTOW) to enhance operational safety, performance and efficiency. It also offers a one-term registry opportunity to operators of aircraft with a MTOW above 5700kg.

Using the IOSA Program as a platform, ISSA aims to help to reduce increasing and operational costs, as well as provide an environment in which operators can become familiar with the IOSA concept and philosophy. The ISSA program involves an initial assessment followed by renewal evaluation every 2 years, and finally an assessment follow-up and registration period in alignment with IOSA.
